First Day of School

Wow, I can't believe it! Back to school already, the summer just flew by. You can tell by the pics that 3of our 4 children were happy about school, but Zoe being herself was not quite so happy. Taysom and Addison were really excited to start 6th and 5th grades respectively and they love their teachers, classes and everything and Sawyer couldn't wait to start kindergarten. What is the deal with delaying the kindergartners a whole week! The little guys are the ones who are the most excited to start and the hardest to explain to why they aren't starting. Sawyer had his evaluation on Monday so when the 20 minutes were up and we headed home he sure thought he'd been cheated out of something. When he finally did get to attend a whole 3 hours of kindergarten he was thrilled! I have to admit I got a little teary as he trotted into his classroom with his giant backpack on ready for a new adventure and didn't even look back to check on his poor mommy! I had been teasing him for months that I wasn't going to let him go because I would miss him to much, I guess there was more truth to that than I imagined! I think it really got to me when I realized that Taysom was just in kindergarten when Sawyer was born and now look at her! She is in 6th Grade! It all flies by so fast! Lucky for us, Miss Marcee started Preschool the same day that the kindergartners began so we narrowly avoided a meltdown from Miss Zoe. She had been asking since about March when it would be her turn to go to "Freefool". She got a little quiet on the drive over though, and told me I would be "staying for the long time OK, Mommy?" and when I said no, she got even quieter. I chatted on about her being the line leader and how her friends Carson and Brynn were going to be there and all the fun she was going to have and all the while I was thinking about this being my last baby going off to school. She got out of the car and when she saw Carson, she cheered up a bit, but Miss Marcee had to prod her along to lead the class in, but when I went to pick her up she was very animated and happy! I believe we are all off to a good start!

A crappy beginning for a Monday!

So I headed off to the gym on Monday the 18th of August at 5:30 am and encounter a giant Ford F250 crew cab at an intersection very near my house and the poor guy doesn't see me in little Black beauty (aka the Sentra) and decides to peal out because he is late for work and I slam on my brakes and slam into the side of him! It was a wreck to be proud of! Both airbags deployed the windsheild broke, the hood was bent in half and the radiator pushed up into the block! I thought I might go under him so I braced for impact and turned my head which ended up being a good thing, because I really didn't end up with any serious injuries, just bumps and bruises. But the poor car did not fare so well. She was a total loss of course since she is now 13 years old. Hard to believe that it was so long ago that I bought her. She ended up with 287,000+ miles on her and we were planning a party when she hit 300,000 but it wasn't meant to be. Both Randy and I are a little sentimental since she was our first new car. We have begun the super rotten job of car shopping, but we're so thankful that McKell and Dave left Belle (short for Beluga Whale) here for us to store for them because it is buying us time to figure out what we want to do next! We are a family that names our cars did you notice? Kind of a funky little tradition but definitely not a new one. My first car was named Libby, we had a blue family car named Lucinda, my aunt had a car named Zoe the list goes on and on.
